The three-ball cascade is the basic pattern that every beginner should learn first. It may seem difficult at first, but with a little practice you will quickly make progress.
Step-by-step instructions
- Starting position: Hold two balls in your dominant hand and one ball in the other hand.
- First throw: Throw a ball from your dominant hand in an arc to the opposite hand.
- Second throw: As soon as the first ball has reached its highest point, throw the ball from your non-dominant hand under the first ball to the opposite hand.
- Third throw: Repeat the process with the third ball.

- Practice regularly: Practicing for just 10-15 minutes a day can make a big difference.
At what age should children start juggling?
Children can start juggling from the age of 8. At this age, they usually have the necessary hand-eye coordination and concentration to learn the basics. It is important that the juggling balls are light and easy to grasp to make it easier to get started.
Larger and lighter balls or scarves are suitable for younger children between the ages of 5 and 7! These fly slowly and are easier to grasp. This allows them to practise developing a feeling for throwing and catching. The focus should always be on having fun.
But adults should also learn to juggle! Juggling not only promotes cognitive and motor skills, but also concentration and patience - valuable skills for life.
Juggling for kids
Juggling is particularly beneficial for children. In addition to improving motor skills, there are many other benefits:
- Promoting self-confidence: Learning a new skill such as juggling can boost children's self-confidence. They experience a sense of achievement and learn that they can reach their goals through practice and perseverance.
- Concentration skills: Juggling requires focus and attention, which can improve children's ability to concentrate.
- Coordination and balance: Throwing and catching balls trains hand-eye coordination and balance.
A brief look at the history of juggling
Juggling has a long history dating back to ancient times. Archaeological finds show depictions of people juggling in Egyptian tombs dating back to 1994 B.C. Juggling is also mentioned in ancient Chinese texts. In the Middle Ages, juggling was an integral part of circus performances and street artists in Europe.
